RWU VPN Connection Guide
The FortiClient VPN is used to access on-campus resources while off-campus
How to install on Windows
1. Download the FortiClient VPN installer
- Save the file to your Downloads folder
2. Install FortiClient VPN software
- Open the downloaded file

Check the box to "accept terms" and choose Next
3. The VPN is installed! Continue to the “How to connect” section to learn how to connect.
How to install on Mac
1. Download the FortiClient VPN installer
- Save the file to your Downloads folder
2. Install FortiClient VPN software

Choose Agree to accept the license agreement.

Enter your computer password. Then click Install Software.
- Choose to Allow notifications from FortiTray during the install. Then click OK.

In the "FortiClientAgent" Notifications pop-up, choose Options and Allow. Close the other pop-ups.
3. The VPN is installed! Continue to the “How to connect” section to learn how to connect.
How to connect
1. Open the FortiClient VPN
- On Windows, look for the icon on your desktop
- On Mac, choose Go -> Applications -> FortiClient
2. Check the box and click “I accept” to acknowledge Fortinet terms.
3. Click “Configure VPN”
4. Fill in the connection settings

Connection Name: RWU
-
Description: Leave Blank
-
Remote Gateway: harbor3.rwu.edu
- Customize port: Check off box.

Port# is 8443
- Enable Single Sign On: Check off box.
5. Click “SAML Login”
6. Enter your Microsoft O365 Credentials.
7. Check your mobile phone for an alert from Duo or the Microsoft Authenticator and ACCEPT
8. On your computer Choose “Yes, Trust Browser”
9. You are now connected!
How to disconnect
1. Open the FortiClient VPN
- On Windows, look for the icon on your desktop
- On Mac, choose the Black Shield -> Open FortiClient Console
2. Click “Disconnect”
